Dhaka Abahani Limited made a 1-1 draw with their arch-rivals Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in their second leg match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Sunday. The match was held at the big bowl without spectators due to strict health protocol. The Motijheel-based outfit showed a better brand of football in the first half but the Dhanmondi-based outfit dominated the secongd half.
Earlier, the first leg match between the two titans of the most prestigious football competition ended in a 2-2 draw in Cumilla.
Dhaka Abahani Limited took the second spot of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football bagging 33 points from 16 matches, while Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club achieved the fifth position earning 29 points from as many matches.
All the goals were scored in the first half.
Mohammedan’s Cameroon recruit Yassan Ouatching put his team ahead in the 29th minute of the first half.
Abahani’s Haitian recruit Belfort equalized the margin using a mistake of the Mohammedan’s defence in the 41st minute of the play.
Abahani’s Nigerian recruit Sunday Chizoba came close to score in the 11th minute and 16th minutes of the match.
Yassan was deprived of a confirm goal in the 20th minute when his shot bounced back from the goalpost in the 20th minute of the game.
After the interval, Abahani’s Nigerian recruit Sunday Chizoba and his teammate Belfort got a good number of chances but they failed to convert those.
