Dhaka Abahani Limited clinched the title of the Saif Power Battery Bangladesh Premier League Football defeating Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited by two goals to nil in their crucial match at the flood-lit Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Nasiruddin Chowdhury and Sunday Chizoba scored one goal each for the skyblue-yellow out-fit.
By virtue of yesterday’s victory, Dhaka Abahani Limited collected 51 points
from 21 matches to retain the title.
On the other hand, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, the other title contender bagged 47 points from 21 matches and Chittagong Abahani Limited earned 43 points from 20 outings.
Abahani led the first half 1-0.
Nasiruddin Chowdhury put his team ahead by a header using a right-side cross of his teammate Sohel Rana in the 23rd minute of the play.
Sunday Chizoba’s forceful shot went over the cross-piece in the 57th minute of the play.
Chizoba sealed the fate of the match by an angular shot just at the dying moment.
After the title-decider match, Nasiruddin Chowdhury said, ” I am lucky as I scored the title-decider goal.”
Sunday Chizoba said, ” I am very glad that I gave contribution for my side to clinch the championship crown.”
