Abahani Limited blanked Dhaka Wanderers Club by 8-0 goals in the opening match of the United Commercial Bank (UCB) Club Cup Hockey at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
Khorshedur and Niloy of Abahani Limited scored two goals each and their teammates Din Islam, Naeem and Ashraful netted one goal each.
Besides, Dhaka Wanderers Club conceded a suicidal goal.
Earlier, Executive Vice-President of United Commercial Bank Abu Alam Yousuf inaugurated the hockey meet by releasing the balloons as the chief guest while Senior Vice-President of UCB Javed Iqbal and Adviser of ATN Bangla (Administration) Mir Motahar Hossain were with him as special guest.
Besides, General Secretary of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) Khaja Rahmatullah, Secretary of the League Committee Kazi Mainuzzaman, Joint-Secretary of BHF Anvir Adil Khan were present in the inaugural ceremony.
Today Usha Krira Chakra will take on Azad Sporting Club at 3.00 pm at the same venue.
