Civic body Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik (SUJAN) Secretary Badiul Alam Majumder has said it is unfortunate that a “villain” has been appointed as the head of the country’s Election Commission.
“The law that has been made; unfortunately, there will be opportunities to recruit people as like them. There are many irregularities that had not been brought to justice. They had no intention of judging,” said the the SUJAN Secretary said this at a virtual press conference held on Saturday in response to the CEC KM Nurul Huda’s recent remarks and allegations against him.
On January 27, at a views exchange meeting with journalists’ body, “Reporters for Election and Democracy,” outgoing CEC Nurul Huda criticized SUJAN Secretary.
CEC Huda in the programme said, “The current Election Commission has not involved SUJAN in any
work of the Commission as various allegations against the organization, including financial irregularities have been proved. That is why Badiul Alam is critical of EC.”
Bringing allegation of destroying the electoral system and of irregularities and corruption against Nurul Huda led Commission, SUJAN said, “The present Election Commission will have to face trial today or tomorrow.”
SUJAN’s central executive member Syeda Rizwana Hasan read out a written statement at the press conference.
