Dr. Md. Shairul Mashreque :
Of course team Bangladesh is coming of age. Spectacular victory against Pakistan proved that Team Bangladesh has reached the height of international standard capable of defeating any over dogs in any third country venue. . The humiliation was frustrating for Pakistan but inevitable as our heroes after demonstrating a good deal of majestic performance against subcontinent’s powerhouse went out to play Asian cup final against mighty India.. Does it mean tigers’ spectacular rise has become nine days’ wonder!
We do not expect that our cricketers rise to the pinnacle of glory and then fall all on a sudden meaning – from the mountain to the hole. Tigers caught napping losing temperament punished by other cricket playing countries. . Our young cricketers really thought to identify themselves with cricket only not other way around. Cricket should be their life and dream. Go for perfection and improvement with rigorous training. They fought as a devoted cadre without any tendency losing confidence. The tigers were mentally prepared for facing the Team India in final. Only firm determination and confidence will enable them to win the final. But our team suffers injury and fitness problem. We are playing short of Shakib and Tamim-two danger men. Our only resort is Mustafiz.
.Tigers’ performance in Asian cup is excellent if not miraculous. Tigers defeated Afghanistan in an exciting match. It helped them to survive in the race for championship. The grand victory against Pakistan in a semifinal like match deserves a special mention. This victory is meaningful achieved without Tamim and Sakib. According to report:
Mushfiqur Rahim scored a fighting 99 to guide Bangladesh into the Asia Cup final with a convincing 37-run win over Pakistan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. The former skipper missed out a deserving century but still lifted Bangladesh from a precarious 12-3 to 239 all out in 49.5 overs before they kept Pakistan down to 202-9 in 50 overs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.Mashrafe Mortaza’s team will now face defending champions India in the final in Dubai on Friday, with an opportuntiy to win the continental title for the first time.Bangladesh’s victory will upset millions of fans around the world who wanted another Indo-Pak clash as the two matches in the first and second round failed to live up to their billing, with India winning both in one-sided affairs. But Bangladesh were worthy winners on Wednesday.
Bangladesh bowled with discipline with left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman leading the pack with 4-43 as Pakistan yet again batted poorly with only opener Imam-ul-Haq fighting hard through a laborious 105-ball 82.Imam, who hit two fours and a six, held the innings together and added 67 for the fourth wicket with Shoaib Malik (30) and another 71 for the seventh wicket with Asif Ali (31).
However, both Imam and Asif fell in successive overs to give Bangladesh only their fifth win over Pakistan in 36 one-day internationals.Pakistan got off to a disastrous start when opener Fakhar Zaman holed out off the fifth delivery of the first over, caught off spinner Mehidy Hasan.
Left-armer Mustafizur then removed Babar Azam (one) and Sarfraz Ahmed (10) to leave Pakistan in tatters at 18-3 before Malik and Imam brought some solidity in the chase.
It was Rahim who built Bangladesh’s innings after it also got off to the worst possible start.
Rahim faced 116 balls and added an invaluable 144 for the fourth wicket with Mithun (60) to help Bangladesh recover from a shaky 12-3 after they won the toss and and opted to bat.
Left-arm paceman Junaid Khan, who replaced Mohammad Amir, had jolted Bangladesh at the start, dismissing Liton Das (six), Soumya Sarkar (0) and Mominul Haque (five).Junaid finished with 4-19 in his nine incisive overs.Rahim hit nine boundaries before he was caught behind with just one needed for a second hundred in the tournament, following his 144 against Sri Lanka in the first round. It was sheer bad luck that he fell in the 42nd over, caught behind off paceman Shaheen Shah who finished with 2-47. Rahim became the first Bangladeshi batsman to be dismissed for 99 in one-day cricket.Mithun, who added 134 with Rahim against Sri Lanka, hit four boundaries in his 84-ball innings.
Many a cricket fan appreciated the tigers for the spectacular win against the high voltage team. What is amazing is wonder performance in the absence of Tamim and Sakib. The boys if performing well with a good deal of determination will be able to beat India. They have that capability.
So that’s it from us for the night. Bangladesh stunned one and all by booking a place in the final with India. They have not played their best cricket but are still here. Tonight, they were spectacular but they need to be more than that when they take on the number 2 ODI team on Friday 28 september 2018.
Victorious Bangladesh captain, Mashrafe Mortaza, says that tonight they changed the bowling line-up a bit. Normally, he starts but he let Mustafizur take the new ball. Does not quite specify the reason but credits the entire bowling and fielding units. Hopes that his team produces this same performance on Friday in the final. On his flying catch to dismiss Malik, the modest skipper puts it down to luck and states that had he dropped that, Malik would have taken Pakistan home. On their big match against India, Mashrafe states that India are the number 1 team in the world while his own team would be without Tamim or Shakib. But still, they need to give their best and try and win the trophy.
Not too long ago, Bangladesh fans were cursing their players after their big loss to India. But they have overcome all those comments and have stormed into the final. The bowling stood up once again, with the young Mustafizur falling just one short of a fifer. But the most underestimated bowlers of the evening – Mehidy Hasan, Mahmudullah and Soumya Sarkar – well, they were the main ones responsible for keeping the lid on the proceedings. Their collective figures were 25-1-85-4 with 82 dot balls. Excellent team performance. Please stay tuned for the presentation to see who gets the Man Of The Match award.
Having kept Bangladesh to 239, the momentum was firmly with Pakistan. However, just like Bangladesh, they were reduced to 3 down in no time. Shoaib Malik and Imam-ul-Haq then tried to revive the innings but a Mashrafe special sent Malik back in the hut.
This is must a comfortable win for Bangladesh. It is fourth in a row in ODIs over Pakistan. Who would have thought that? Right from the start of the tournament, the predictions have been an India-Pakistan final. Now, that script has changed.
