Readers' Forum: A forgotten national leader

block
We have forgotten Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, who was the first to say to the then West Pakistan, “Assalamu Alaikum.” It was in 1957 Kagmari Conference of his new party NAP at Santosh, Tangail. He was the Chairman of the Advisory body of the wartime Mujibnagar Government in 1971.
He believed that socialism could bring the economic emancipation of people. Sadly his name has been slashed from the educational curriculum.
However, we are very much hopeful that history itself, as is the rule, will correct the mistake in due course, may be a hundred years later.
