Vehicles vandalising case: 99 JCD activists get HC bail

The High Court on Thursday granted bail for four weeks to 99 leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) including its central president and general secretary in a case filed in connection with vehicles vandalizing in Dhaka University area on the day of BNP called strike (hartal) on February 2.
The High Court Bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan passed the order after hearing separately
five bail petitions filed by the accused.
Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Barrister Kayser Kamal, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal and Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal appeared in the court on behalf of the JCD leaders.
BNP called a day-long hartal on February 2 protesting the “widespread irregularities” in the City Corporation elections held on February 1. During observing the hartal, an auto- rickshaw and a private car were vandalized on Dhaka University campus.
Allegation raised that the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leaders and activists vandalized the auto rickshaw and a private car in front of the Central Shaheed Minar as part of picketing inside Dhaka University campus.
A day after, police filed a case with the Shahbagh Police Station against the 120 Chhatra Dal leaders.
