Chittagong District Police in overnight special drives arrested 98 people including five leaders and activists of Jamaat-Shibir in drives conducted at different upazilas of the district on Tuesday night.
During the drives, the law enforcers also seized 156-litre locally made liquor and 200 pieces of yaba tablets.
Mohammad Naimul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district police said that they 98 people including five activists of Jamaat-men in accusation of creating violence in the area.
Of them, 15 are the accused of regular cases while 78 are warranted accessed.
Besides, narcotics were recovered from Lohagara upazila, he added.
Youth electrocuted : A youth died after being electrocuted at a laundry shop in Double Mooring area of Chittagong city on Tuesday.
The deceased was Md Lokman, 20, of Chandanaish upazila of the district.
Lokman was electrocuted while switching on a washing machine at the shop, said a co-worker.
He was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said police.
