96pc success rate in open heart surgery at CMCH claimed

Chattogram Medical College and Hospital achieved desired success in complicated open heart surgery. Out of 100 open heart surgery patients, 96% achieved success recently. CMCH sources said Cardiac surgery department started at CMCH from 2012 and CMCH was the first government medical college where cardiac department introduced. Out of this, heart operations are being conducted at National Heart Institute in Dhaka beside the private hospitals. Head of Cardiac Surgery Deptt of CMCH Dr. Sumon Nazmul Hossain told that since 2012, a total of 380 patients were underwent heart surgery in the hospital successfully.
 Out of these 380 patients, only 14 expires. He hoped that if we get more cooperation from the respect authorities, then it will be possible to minimize more cost in that type of surgery. Hospital sources said following the increase of heart patients in this region, the numbers of open heart surgery also increased comparatively. Sources said in private clinics, such types of heart surgery costs not less than three lakh taks but in public hospital like CMCH comes only 50 to 60 thousand taka.
On condition of anonymity, a physician of CMCH told that now a patient needs Tk. 50 to 60 thousand for undergoing open heart surgery and it may be minimized more subject to provisions of enough surgical equipments and available medicines.
Principal of the Chittagong Medical and College Md Selim Md Jahngir told the media that a heart patient may die on the way to Dhaka from Chattogram but now better quality treatment of heart patients are undergoing in CMCH and physicians are more success in CMCH. Hospital sources said following the commissioning of the 10 storied cardiac building and surgery department there , no major problems of the cardiac patients yet to be witnessed.
