At least nine shops were gutted by a fire that broke out at Nangolband Bazar in Shailkupa upazila early Wednesday.
Locals said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop around 1pm and it soon engulfed eight other adjoining shops.
On information, a unit of firefighters of Shailkupa Fire Station
rushed to the spot and doused the flame after two hours of frantic
efforts, said station officer Mahfuzur Rahman,
The affected shop owners claimed that the estimated losses caused by the fire would be worth of Tk20lakh.
