9 more killed in road crashes

At least nine persons were killed and several others critically injured in separate road accidents in the country on Wednesday. Of them, five died in Cumilla, while one each in Dhaka, Habiganj, Panchagarh and Tangail.
At Chandina of Cumilla, at least three persons died in an accident on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway on the day.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Mannan, 40, from Monohorganj, his elder brother Abul Kashem, 42 and Rakhib Hossain, 20 from Lakshimpur.
The accident took place when a covered van rammed a microbus at Nuritola of the upazila around 4:30pm, leaving three people dead, said Nazrul Islam, Superintendent of Cumilla Highway police.
At Cumilla Sadar (South), a bus driver and his helper were killed in another road accident the same day. The accident took place at Shuagazi on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway around 9am.
Mahbubur Rahman, Officer In-Charge (OC) of Moinamoti Highway Police Station confirmed the news media.
In Habiganj, one Shahed Ali (50), was killed in an accident when a pick-up van rammed a tea shop at Kalimnagar Bazar of Shayestaganj upazila of the district.
Four others were injured in this crash.
The accident occurred at 10am on Wednesday. Shayestaganj Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anisur Rahman confirmed the news to media.
 In Dhaka, a woman named Khurshida Begum (45) was killed in a road accident when a trolly rammed her in Nawabganj upazila of Dhaka district.
The accident occurred at around 11pm. Nawabganj Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jalal Uddin told the matter to media.
In Panchagarh, motorcyclist Nurul Islam (32), was killed in a clash between power truck and motorcycle in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila.
The accident occurred at Jagdal Bazar in the upazila around 11am on Wednesday.
Panchagarh Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector Mokaddes Ali confirmed the incident.
In Tangail, one person named Zahid (12) was killed in a road crash when a truck hit an auto-rickshaw in Sayedpur area on the Gorai Sakhipur Road in Mirzapur of the district on Wednesday morning.
