Nine gamblers were caught red handed and held from Bagadi Chowrasta area under Chandpur Sadar Upazila on Friday afternoon. They are now being sent to the concerned court – said OC Nasimuddin after a case against them was filed in this regard on Friday night.
According to Sub Inspector Dilip Kumar , acting on a secret information that a group of gamblers were gambling inside shutting a shop behind the Jamey mosque at Bagadi Chowrasta More, he along with Police force swooped on them and caught them red handed with alamots of gambling and took them to Thana in the evening.
They are aged from 20 to 32 years. They are identified as Rajon Patwary, 24,and Habib Gazi,18, of Bagadi area, Masud ,21, of Nij Gasstola village, Ramchandra, 23, Sharif Kobiraj, 30, Khokan, 32, Hasan Gazi, 25, Rafique, 30, and Borhan, 21, -all from Nanupur village in Chandpur Sadar.
Locals have alleged that a group of gamblers including a few CNG run autorickshaw drivers had long been gambling here and thus polluting the area’s environment.
None dared to open their mouth against them.
Contacted, Sadar Model Thana OC Md Nasimuddin has said, a case was filed accusing them and they all are being sent to the court today, Saturday.
