Forest department arrested 9 (nine) fishermen from Betmor Kharir Khal (canal) area of Katka sanctuary forest under Sharankhola Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans on Monday afternoon on the charge of catching fish from there violating the ban imposed on the entry into the forest for 2 months, according a delayed report received here. Two mechanized bots and 9 fishing nets were recovered from the arrested fishermen.
They were sent to Bagerhat court on Monday evening. The arrested fishermen are Md. Shahidul Talukdar, Hasan Mia, Saddam Hawladar, Rasel Matubbor, Raju Akon, Asib Hawladar, Raju Mir, Aslam Mir and Milon Khan.
They all hail from the village Sonatala within Southkhali Union under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district.
