9 convicted with death penalty in murder case

Chattogram Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal in a verdict on Monday convicted 9 accused with death penalty , four accused given life imprisonment for murdering trader Jahangir Alam of Doudkandi in Cumilla district named.
Acting Judge of the Tribubal Md. Abdul Halim pronounced this verdict today and acquitted three accused from the allegations. PP of the Tribunal and General Secretary of Chattogram District Lawyers Association Md. Ayub Khan told that court has convicted accused Sajib, Rajib, Harun, shaon, Amin, Rabu, Momin, Abu Taher and Mohsin with capital punishment in this murder case. Besides, court convicted four accused named Matin, Shah Paran, Shamim and Khokan with life term and three others Nayan, Moslem and Billal freed without any charge .
Court source said accused chopped to death trader Doudkandi Jahangir Alam on December 01, 2013 and the case was transferred f rom Cumilla Judge Court to Divisional Tribunal in 2015. 13 witnesses have given their depositions in the case.
 District Registrar sent to jail for irregularities alleged: Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge court in an order yesterday sent district Registrar Md. Lutfur Rahman to Chattogram central jail for alleged misappropriation of Wakf properties of Tk130 crores through executing a fake deed (Deed No. 14516) dated August 13, 2012 in Chattogram District Registrar office .
The properties belong to Haji Gani Sowdagar Wakf Estate measuring 1,184 Satak land of Khulsi area in port city.
The false and fake deed was executed in Chattogram District Registrar office during his tennure in Chattogram as Registrar. After long investigation by Anti corruption Commission officials in Chattogram , lodge a misappropriation and corruption case on August 19 last against District Registrar Lutfur Rahman .
While presented the accused before the Session Judge Ashfaqur Rahman ordered him to sent to jail custody on Sunday .
Before his arrest Lutfur Rahman was assigning the responsibilities as District Registrar of Nilphamari District PP of ACC Adv Kazi Sanowar Ahmed Lovelu told that Deputy Director of ACC Chattogram chapter Shahin Ara Momtaz filed the case before the court against Lutfur Rahman and 3 others for allegedly involved with the fraud case . Following the directives of the higher court Lutfur Rahaman surrendered before the Chattogram Metropolitan Session judge court yesterday and court instantly ordered him to sent jail custody, court sources added.
Ex- OC of Patiya thana , his 2 brothers sued by ACC: Anti Corruption Commission of Chattogram lodged a suit against former Officer Incharge of Patiya Thana Rafayetullah Chowdhury and his two brothers for alleged possession of illegal properties.
Asstt. Director of ACC, Chattogram Md. Humayun Kabir filed the case before the Integrated District office of ACC Chattogram-1 on Sunday for alleged possession of illegal properties of Tk.2.79 crores beyond his incomes. Police Officer Refayetullah Chowdhury now assigned in Rajshahi Police Range.
 The other accused in the suit are – Md. Aftab ullah chowdhury and Md. Hafizullah Chowdhury, sons of Rahimullah chowdhury of Laksham . ACC sources said these three brothers earned Tk.2.79 c rores beyond their income sources.
The FIR was told that there are 12 bank accounts in the name of Police official Rafayetullah in different Banks .
