88th meeting of public accounts committee held

The 88th meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts was held recently at the Cabinet room of Jatiya Sangsad.
Presided over by the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Dr Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir, the meeting was also attended by committee members M Abdus Shahid, Panchanan Biswas, M Rustum Ali Faraji and M Afsarul Amin.The meeting discussed about some 11 audit objections included in the compliance audit report 2011-2012 carried out by the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh’s office on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism for the fiscal year 2010-11 involving an amount of Taka 5,88,29,871, said a press release.
It said the committee, also recommended resolving those audit objections in light of its directives.
Referring to a audit objection involving Taka 1,42,80,000 on the Mirinja project in Bandarban, the Committee also recommended for undertaking a new project within the next six months by the Ministry of CHT Affairs to boost the connectivity with the CHT region and other parts of the country. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Deputy CAG M Zakir Hossain, officials concerned of the audit office and Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad were present at the meeting.
