Question paper leakage: 8 put on remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday placed eight suspects on a three-day remand to quiz them in connection with SSC question paper leak.
Magistrate S M Masud Zaman of the court passed the order after the Investigation Officer of the case and Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Delwar Hossain produced them in the court seeking a seven-day remand each.
Of the accused, Sher-e-Bangla School and College teacher Rafiqul Islam while discharging duties in the examination halls took snaps of question papers and sent those to another accused Zahirul Islam Suvo, Director of Gyankosh Academy. Suvo negotiated with the guardians of the examinees, and sold questions papers to them in exchange of money.  
Earlier, DB of police in separate raids arrested the eight of a racket from five districts of the country on the charge of leaking fake question papers of different public and private examinations as well as recruitment tests in the last couple of days, reported the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).
The accused persons are: Liton alias Akash, Rumon alias Mahir, Himel alias Ahmed Abir, Arif, Ontor, Rajib, Zahir alias Shuvo and Rafiqul Islam.
DB people arrested them from Dhaka, Chapainawabganj, Mymensingh, Jamalpur and Kushtia districts, said an official press release.
DB Inspector Nazmul Hoque filed the case with Motijheel Police Station under the ICT Act and Public Examination Offence Act of 1980.
