8 more killed in road crashes

At least eight more persons including five in Cumilla were killed and 20 others critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Sunday.
In Cumilla, at least five persons were killed and 10 others seriously injured when a bus collided with a truck parked beside the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Chauddagram upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as: Aslam Mollah, 60, Chaina Hizra, 50, Anwar Hossain, 45, Hashi Begum, 40, Salam Mia, 35. All were the inhabitants of Khulna district.
The accident occurred when a Chattogram-bound bus from Khulna rammed a truck stationed beside the highway at Gangra around 5:30am.
Manjur Alam, In-Charge of Miahbazar Highway Police outpost told media.
All of the deceased died on the spot and the injured were taken to Chauddagram  
Upazila Health Complex, Manjur added.
In Bramanbaria, an auto-rickshaw driver named Hakim Miah was killed when a truck hit him at Budonti union under Bijaynagar upazila of the district on Sunday.
In Gazipur, an unidentified minor child was killed when a covered van rammed him at Porabari area under Gazipur City Corporation. Amol Chandro Ray, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Gazipur Sadar Police told the matter to media.
In Cox Bazar, a local trader named Bahar Uddin, 30, was killed when a truck rammed him in Pekua of the district on Sunday morning.
Jakir Hossain, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Pekua Police confirmed the news media.
