8 including 3 siblings hurt in fire incidents

At least eight persons, including three siblings, were injured in separate fire in the city’s Gabtali and Dakkhin Keraniganj areas on Wednesday night, police said.
Quoting the locals, Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Police Outpost In-charge and Sub-Inspector (SI) Mozammel Haque said that the fire originated from a shanty of a slum from the city’s Gabtali area around
10:15pm, leaving at least five persons severely injured. The injured were admitted to the DMCH instantly in a critical condition.
The injured have been identified as Shanta, 20, her daughter Bristi, 3, Rubel, 12, and Abdul Gani, 43 and Nasir Hossain, 23. Both of them used to work in the city’s various factories, the police official said
DMCH Burn Unit on-duty doctor Dr Salauddin said that the condition of Shanta, Bristi, Rubel, and Abdul Gani who suffered 98, 33, 58, and 35 percent burn injuries respectively is stated to be critical.
On the other hand, quoting the locals and doctors, South Keranjganj Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jamal Uddin said that the fire broke out from a leaked gas pipeline at Par Gandaria Sarkarbari in Dakkhin Keraniganj under Dhaka district at about 5:00am. At least three siblings received burn injuries in the incident. They were admitted to the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of DMCH immediately in a critical condition.
The injured were identified as Shahin, 26, son of Hossain Sheikh, and Shahin’s two sisters Taslima, 16, and Asia, 15, the police official said.
Among them, Asia received 45 per cent burn injuries, Shahin 30 percent and Taslima 30 percent, the OC said.
