8 HC judges to monitor lower courts’ proceedings of eight divisions

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique has appointed eight judges of the High Court division of the Supreme Court to monitor the proceedings and to reduce the case backlog of the subordinate courts across the country by speeding up the work.
Each of the judges will monitor the proceedings of each of the eight divisions of the country, said a notification issued by the Supreme Court administration recently.
Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam will monitor the proceedings of the subordinate courts of Dhaka division, Justice Md Jahangir Hossain will monitor the courts of Khulna division, Justice Zafar Ahmed will oversee the proceedings of Barishal division and Justice Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah will monitor the proceedings of Chattogram division, according to the notification.
Justice S M Kuddus Zaman has been appointed to monitor the proceedings of Sylhet division, Justice Shahed Nuruddin will see the proceedings of Rangpur division, Justice Md Zakir Hossain will see the proceedings of Mymensingh division and Justice Md Akhtaruzzaman will see the proceedings of Rajshahi division, also read the notification.
Eight judicial officers have also been appointed for eight divisions to provide the secretarial assistance to the High Court judges who will monitor the lower court proceedings.
Mohammad Abdus Salam, Deputy Registrar of the HC division of the SC, will provide assistance for Dhaka division, Sanjida Sarwar, Assistant Registrar of the HC division, will provide assistance for Khulna division, Md Sultan Sohag Uddin, Assistant Registrar, will provide assistance for Barishal division, Mitful Islam, Assistant Registrar, will assist for Chattogram division.
Md Harun Reza, Assistant Registrar, will assist for Sylhet division, Jibrul Hasan, PS to Registrar General of the SC, will assist for Rangpur division, Md Haider Ali, Assistant Registrar, will assist for Mymensingh division and Md Omar Hayder, Assistant Registrar, will assist for Rajshahi division.
Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on January 2, the first working day after taking the charge as the Chief Justice, said, a monitoring cell headed by a judge of the High Court Division will be formed for each of the eight divisions of the country in order to resolve case backlog in all lower courts and bring transparency in the judicial process.
Progress reports will be taken from each of them every month, also said the newly appointed Chief Justice adding that older cases will be supervised and monitored with utmost importance for early disposing of them.
He, 25 days after taking the office, gave the responsibility of the eight divisions to the eight judges of the High Court division on January 27.
Earlier on January 6, the Chief Justice has formed a two-member committee for conducting a preliminary inquiry into the allegations of irregularities and corruption in both the divisions of the apex court.
Md Abdur Rahman, Additional Registrar of the HC division, and Md Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Registrar of same division, have been assigned for the preliminary inquiry into the allegations of irregularities and corruption of the Supreme Court.
