Some 79 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) resigned en masse on Monday showing non-confidence to the unit president and general secretary.
BAU BCL vice-president Mehedi Hasan, its joint secretary Khandaker Tayefur Rahman and organising secretary Mainuddin Rubel were among those resigned.
Tayefur Rahman made the announcement at a press briefing held at the BAU TSC at noon.
He said unit BCL president Mursheduzzaman Khan Babu and general secretary Saiful Islam along with their followers are involved in various crimes, including extortion and tender manipulation.
The 119-member present committee of the university unit BCL was formed in 2013 for one year, Tayefur said, demanding dissolution of the committee whose tenure has already expired.
