Seventy-six new books arrived at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Wednesday, the fifth day of the fair. Of them, eight were storybooks, 15 novels, three essay books, 26 poems, nine children literature, one travel, one science, three science fictions and 10 on other subjects.
Meanwhile, three new books were unveiled on the central podium of the fair. Dr Rumana Afroj’s Dhaka Shahorer Biharider Bhasa: Somaj Bhashabigyangoto Shamikkha was unveiled by Dr Abul Kalam Manjur Morshed and Professor Daniul Haque, Shamim Khan Juboraj’s Bristri Jhore Mistisure was unveiled by Jaglul Haider, while Golzer Hossain’s Sraster Shristi Jagot was unveiled by Advocate Taimur Alam Khandoker and Mahbubur Rahman.
The New books were Ami Nari by Panna Rani Ray, Sob Bhalobasa Bikri Kore Dibo, Tomar Shorire Amar Sorbanash, Media Mafia Magic and Krishna Pokkher Chad by Shahidul Haque, Anurag by Nikhil Kumar Shaha, Kathuria 0 Dwalu Boal by Sohel Maruf, Andhokare Jatodur Dekha Jay by Shardul Sajal, Sagar Tir Bashini by Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Shunnatay Abogahan by Pronab Kumar, Alor Pathe Alor Khoje by Siraj Uddin, Amar Joto Bhabbona by Kamal Quadir, Sonali Bullet by Sheikh Abdul Hakim, Ekattorer Chetonay Jege Othar Shomoy by Monayem Sarker, Sob Kichhu Mayer Jonnyo by Sunanda Kabir, Nil Nirbason by Tahsinul Islam, Kashboner Konnya by Shamsuddin Abul Kalam,
Mayaghor by Emdadul Haque Milon, Nirhara Pakhi by Moni Adhikari, Aj School Chhuti by Tawhidur Rahman and Dozen Dozen Pashu Pakhi by Muhammad Jafar Iqbal.
A discussion on “Abu Ahmed Habibullah” was held on the main stage of the fair yesterday. ABM Hossain presided at the discussion while Professor Akhtaruzzaman presented the keynote paper. Professor Ajoy Ray, Enamul Haque, Shamsul Hossain and Mahbubur Rahman were discussants.
A fascinating cultural programme was held in the evening participated among others, by Shahnaj Nasrin Ela, Khalid Hossain, Ferdous Ara, Fatema-tuz-Zahra, Sujit Mostafa, Yasmin Mustari, Yakub Ali Khan, Lina Taposi, AKM Shahid Kabir Palash, Tapan Mahmud, Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, Nilotpal Sadhya, Roqaiya Hasina and Badurunnesa Dalia.
A discussion on “Bhasha Andolan Ebong Amanul Haquer Kirti” will be held at the main stage. Ahsanul Haque will preside at the programme while Nasir Ali Mamun will present the keynote paper. Shahidul Alam, Faridur Reza Sagar and Lutfar Rahman Riton will be present at the programme as the discussants.
