72 diplomatic missions active in 56 countries, JS told

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali said as many as 72-diplomatic missions of Bangladesh are active in 56 countries including nine of them in own buildings.
“We have 72 embassy/consulate/deputy high commission/assistant high commission in 56 countries and also nine missions in 7 countries established on own lands,” he said on Monday while replying to a question from treasury bench member Ali Azam of Bhola-2 in the Jatiya Sangsad.
Ali said Bangladesh diplomatic missions are established on own lands in Beijing (China), Brussels (Belgium) New Delhi and Kolkata (India), London (United Kingdom), Tokyo (Japan), Pretoria (South Africa), Washington DC and New York (Permanent mission) in the United States.
Besides, the country has own envoy’s residences in seven countries including Beijing in China, New Delhi in India, London in United Kingdom, New York in the United States, Ottawa in Canada, Tokyo in Japan and Pretoria in South Africa, he told the House.
Meanwhile, the government has been implementing three projects to construct the Bangladesh mission’s own buildings in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Ankara (Turkey) and Islamabad (Pakistan), the minister informed.
He said that the government has arranged lands for constructing Bangladesh’s buildings in five countries including Nepal, Malaysia, Australia, Myanmar and Brunei.
