A mobile court in two separate drives seized 7,000-meter banned current net from two rivers under Kawkhali upazila of the district on Monday.
The court, led by Kawkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Laboni Chakma,seized the illegal current nets while fishermen catching fish in the Sandhya and Kacha rivers.
However, nobody was arrested in this connection during the drives, the court sources said.
Phani Bushan Pal, Kawkhali upazila fisheries official, said the seizedcurrent nets, valued at Tk 2 lakh, were burnt in presence of officials concerned.
