7 students held as they appear as fake candidates for police constable

Seven students of two reputed educational institutions were arrested by police on Saturday as they appeared in written examination for the post of police constables as fake candidates on behalf of enlisted real candidates on payment basis.
Of the seven arrestees, five are students from Jagannath University in Dhaka and two read in Nilphamari Govt College.
All are regular students in honours course on different subjects, informed police..
The Jagannath University students are Sheikh Fazlul Huq Roman (22), son of Aliar Rahman of Surigati village in Narail district, Younus Ali (20), son of Ziad Ali of Kaliganj village of Satkhira district.
The three others of the same university are Shamim Reza (22), son of Abul Kalam Azad of Kitla village in Narail district, Yasin Mollah (24) son of Ismail Hossain of Bamunipur village in Rajbari district and Tabayed Rahman (23) son of Abdul Jalil of Ekbarpur village in Rangpur district.
The other two arrestees belonging to Nilphamari govt college and they are Ekramul Huq (23), son of Mokbul Hossain of Poschim Khutamara village in Nilphamari district and Ripon Hossen (22), son of Habibur Rahman of Dhakkhin Deshibai village in Nilphamari district. OC of Nilphamari Sadar police station Babul Akhtar said that all the seven arrestees yesterday as fake examinee in written examination for the post of constables at Nilphamari police line center on behalf of enlisted candidates selected to appear written examination.

“At time of verifying relevant documents, the concerned police officers who were acting as invigilator detected them as fake examinees and detained, “the OC further said.

On interrogation, they exposed their real identities and confessed to police that they made money contact with the real candidates who are weak in knowledge ranging from Tk 30- Tk40 thousand for appearing in the exam on behalf of them, the OC continued saying.

In interrogation, it was learnt that few of them doing this unethical practice a number of times.

A total of 389 candidates appeared at written examination today in district police line center for 120 posts. They were primarily selected to appear in written test after sorting from two thousand intending candidates.
