Seven suspected robbers were killed and another one seriously injured in a lynch-mob attack at Bhatpara village in Sadar upazila early Monday. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge KM Abul Kashem said a gang of robbers stormed into the house of former union parishad chairman Monir Hossain at the village around 3:00 am and looted valuables from the house. Later, they swooped on the house of Lal Miah, a neighbour of Monir, and tried to loot the valuables. Meanwhile, Monir announced the news of the robbery using the mike of local mosque, and, in response, local people rushed to the spot and caught eight members of the gang after a hot chase. The locals then gave the robbers a severe beating, leaving seven of them dead on the spot and one critically injured. Informed, police rescued the injured and took him to Narsingdi General Hospital. Later, police recovered the seven bodies and sent those to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.- Narsingdi, Jan 26 (UNB)
