The government probe body on Narayanganj seven-murder has claimed to have identified culprits involved in the murders. Deputy Secretary of Law Ministry Mizanur Rahman Khan, also a member of the probe body, disclosed this on Tuesday while talking to the media.
The probe body submitted a progress report on their investigation into the murders to the Attorney General’s (AG) office for placing it to the High Court (HC) tomorrow (Wednesday).
Mizanur Rahman Khan said, the reports have identified the culprits involved in the murder but did not mention their names for further investigation.
“Investigation is on to collect more information about those involved,” he said.
The body led by Md Shahjahan Ali Mollah, additional secretary to the public administration ministry, also sought four more weeks from the HC for completing the investigation.
Mizanur said, a satisfactory progress has been made in the investigation and they need more time to complete the job.
He, however, refused to disclose the findings of their investigation.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has also submitted their progress report to the AG office for placing those to the HC tomorrow (July 9).
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) office is set to place its progress report on the investigation to the AG office by tomorrow.
Earlier on Monday, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) also placed their progress report to the AG office.
Earlier on June 4, the High Court Bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore directed the seven member probe committee, IGP, RAB and CID to submit their report on the progress of their investigation into the deadly incident of Narayanganj before it on July 9.
On April 27, Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his four associates and senior lawyer Chandan Sarker and his driver were abducted allegedly by some members of the RAB. Their bodies were found floating in the Shitalakkhya river a couple of days later.
