7 killed in road accidents

At least seven people were killed and 24 others injured in separate road accidents in the capital, and Brahmanbaria, Netrakona and Tangail districts on Sunday.
In the capital, a young woman was killed as a covered van hit her near Matuail CNG Filling Station in Jatrabari area of the city in the early hours.
Contacted, sub-inspector Murad of Jatrabari Police Station told UNB that the woman, aged around 35, was trying to cross the road around 1:30 am when the covered van crashed into her, leaving her injured.
She was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead at about 2:40 am, said the SI. The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
In Brahmanbaria, three drivers were killed and 12 people injured in separate road accidents in Sarail and Sadar upazilas.
In Sarail, the drivers of a bus and a truck were killed and 12 people injured when the Dhaka-bound ‘Ena Paribahan’ bus collided head-on with the Sylhet-bound truck on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Boisamora in the early hours.
The deceased were identified as bus driver Khairul and truck driver Masud. In another accident, a private car driver was killed when his vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch at Malihata in Sadar upazila
in the morning. The deceased was identified as Parvez.
In Netrakona, two people were killed and 12 others injured when a bus plunged into a ditch on Netrakona-Kalmakanda road at Putika in Kalmakanda upazila in the afternoon.
One of the deceased was identified as Rais Uddin, 35, son of Samed Ali of Sanaikandi village in the upazila.
The injured were rushed to local hospital.
In Tangail, a motorcyclist was killed when a speedy bus rammed his bike on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Dirampur in Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Ujjal Mia, 30, son of Naya Mia of Banshtoil village in Mirzapur upazila.
