7 JMB men held, put on remand

A special squad of Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested seven suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh from the city’s Tejgaon area on Monday night.
The arrested JMB men are—Kashem alias Kashu, 20, Nazmul Hasan alias Nayan, 23, Rashed, 27, Sentu Hawlader, 26, Abdul Baset, 22, Sohrab alias Sarker, 32, and Shuvra alias Akash, 20.
The law enforcers also recovered gold ornaments, weighing about 67 tolas, Tk 6 lakh, four pistols, five magazines, 10 rounds of bullets, nine knives,
a television set, a laptop, a motorcycle and a huge quantity of stolen materials from their possession, police said.
A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit conducted the raid in Tejgaon area on Monday night and arrested them, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The arrested men were being interrogated in this connection, the police official said.
A case was filed with the Tejgaon Police Station in this connection, the DC said.
Meanwhile, Investigation Officer (IO) of Tejgaon Police Station Saiful Islam produced them before the court seeking a 10-day remand for interrogation yesterday in a robbery case. But the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Khurshid Alam granted six days remand for the JMB men.
