Ctg Shrine loot: 7 indicted over Tk 2.7-cr loot from Ctg shrine

A court here on Tuesday framed charges against seven people, including four dismissed Rab men, in a case filed for looting Tk 2.7 crore from a shrine in Anwara upazila in 2011.
Chittagong 5th Additional Session’s Judge Nure Alam passed the indictment order, said Barrister Mohammad Enam.
The accused are Lt Col (sacked) Zulfiqar Ali Majumder, former commanding officer of Rab-7, Flight Lt (sacked) Sheikh Mahmudul Hasan, DAD (sacked) Abul Bashar, sub-inspector (sacked) Tarun Kumar Basu, three Rab informers-Didarul Alam alias Didar, Anwar Miah and Manab Barua. All of them are now behind the bars.
On November 4, 2011, Tk 2.7 crore was looted from Talsara Darbar Sharif in Anwara upazila.
Idris, driver of the shrine pir, filed a case with the local police station against 10 members of Rab-7, two of their informants and some 15 unnamed people on March 13, 2012 over the looting.
In the case statement, the complainant alleged that the Rab officials with the help of their cohorts entered the shrine and looted Tk 2.07 crore after breaking open the steel cupboard of the Darbar Sharif in the name of a search operation.
