DU Correspondent :At least seven students were injured in a clash between the supporters of the Ziaur Rahman Hall and the Surya Sen Hall units of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the Dhaka University (DU) campus over establishing supremacy on Thursday night.The injured were first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and then shifted to the DU Medical Centre for treatment.The clash began at the Mol Chhattor around 8:00 PM when the supporters of BCL’s DU unit Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince teased a girl friend of the BCL’s central leader Nazmul Huda, sources in the campus said.Soon after the incident, Nazmul called his supporters from Surya Sen Hall. In response, his followers assembled at the scene and locked into an altercation with the BCL’s DU unit secretary’s supporters from Ziaur Rahman Hall.Consequently, seven BCL workers, three from Ziaur Rahman Hall and four from Surya Sen Hall were injured. They have been identified as Parvez and Munna, third year students, Rustom and Bashir, 2nd year students, and Jabbar, a 1st year student.BCL DU unit President Abid Al Hasan said, we shall take organizational action quickly against those of the activists who were responsible. DU Acting Proctor M Amjad said, I have heard about the incident. Action will follow the fair investigation.
