7 Homeland Life directors sent to jail for not settling insurance claim

Motijheel police arrested seven Directors of Homeland Life Insurance Company Limited from the company’s head office on allegation of not settling the insurance claim of policyholders.
A Dhaka court sent them to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj after rejecting their bail petitions.
These accused are company directors Abdur Rob, Jamal Uddin, Kamal Mia, Abdur Razzaque, Jamal Mia, Abdul Hai and Foyzul Haque.
The court, however, ordered the accused to appear in Magura court by Wednesday.
For the first time, seven directors of an insurance company are in jail in a case of not settling the insurance claim of policyholders. As a result, this incident has now created a huge sensation in the insurance sector.
Four policy holders from the Magura district filed four cases against the seven directors of the Homeland Life Insurance for non-payment of insurance claims of around Tk 14 lakh.
According to the case documents, the petitioners claimed themselves as customers of the company.
Azhar Ali, the plaintiff of a case stated that he is a policy holder and an agent of Homeland Life Insurance. He filed the case with the court of Magura on August 2 this year. All the 19 witnesses in the case are insurance policy holders of the company
