Arson attack on Hindu village: 7- day remand to interrogate prime accused in Rangpur

A Rangpur court on Wednesday noon granted police seven days remand to interrogate the prime accused, Fazlar Rhaman who was allegedly involved of plotting the arson attack in the Hindu village at Thakurpara village in Rangpur Sadar upazila on November 10.
Rangpur Senior Judicial Magistrate, Ariful Islam passed the order in response to police plea seeking ten days to question Fazlar Rhaman in the sectarian violence case.
Earlier, on December 22 police arrested Fazlar Rhaman, a sub-assistant engineer of Rangpur Zilla Parishad from Shaymoli area of the capital who remained hiding since the attack. Police took him back to Rangpur and produced before court on November 24. The court ordered to send him jail.
The investigative officer of the case and sub-inspector Gongachra police station, Mister Ali said, police produced him before court this noon and sought ten days remand for quizzing. The learned court granted seven days remand.
The defense lawyer, Advocate Alefuddin said, his client, Fazlar Rhaman became a victim of the intrigue. We sought bail to the court for him. The court rejected their plea and granted police seven days remand, he added.
