Staff Reporter :Chief Justice SK Sinha expects that retired Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik to return the files of all unfinished judgements and orders as soon as possible instead of speaking to the media.In a press release, signed by the acting Register General of the Supreme Court Abu Syed Dilzar Hossain, sent to media on Sunday afternoon, the Chief Justice also suggested Justice Manik should not give any statement to media regarding the judgements and the orders.The Chief Justice said these in reaction to the letter and the statement of retired judge of the Supreme Court. The SC released the press release hours after Justice Manik’s speaking to the media. Justice Manik asked the CJ to accept judgements and order copies written by him after retirement. The SC press release says, “Honourable Chief Justice of Bangladesh hopes that former judge AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik will return all the files of cases of unsettled verdicts belonging to him to the Supreme Court’s registrar general’s office immediately without making any statement to the media in this regard so that justice seekers don’t suffer anymore”.The press release also says, “Justice Manik today (Sunday) held a press conference at the SC premises during the court hours which came to the notice of the Chief Justice through the electronic media. Such a press conference at the SC compound is unprecedented.”The Chief Justice hoped that the judges would refrain from doing such acts in order to uphold the sanctity and dignity of the court at present and in future.
