7-day Int`l film festival to begin at RU on Nov 18

RU Correspondent :A seven-day long international film festival entitled ‘Dui Bangla Chalocchittro Utsab’ will begin at Rajshahi University on November 18.RU mass communication and journalism department and RU Film Society are jointly organising the festival for the first time in the university.Dr.Sazzad Bakul, the festival organizing committee secretary and assistant professor of journalism department told these to newsmen yesterday noon at a press conference held at Rabindra Arts building.”Indian prominent film maker Buddhadeb Das Gupta and Bangladeshi film director will inaugurate the festival. We also are trying to confirm cultural minister for Bangladesh Asaduzzaman Nur and hope we will be able to confirm him in no time”, he also said.A total of twenty films of Bangladesh and India will be shown at the university’s Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium while total three seminars on film will be held during the festival.The film exhibition and seminar will remain open for the audience.Among others, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panday, chairman of mass communication and journalism department, associate professor Shatil Sheraj, Rajshahi Film Society president Ahsan Kabir Liton addressed the press conference. 8-day drama festival ends An eight-day long drama festival titled Bangladesh-India Alliance Drama Festival-2015″ ended on Wednesday at Rajshahi University amid enthusiastic responses from the theatergoers.The event, jointly organized by RU theatre department and Indian high commission to Bangladesh featured a total of ten dramas staged by the ten theatre troupes participating from Bangladesh and India.”The festival got success by the more than expected, turnover of audience”, said the organizers.Arif Haider, convener of the festival organizing committee said, every time the university’s Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium went houseful during the stage of drama. We received highly enthusiastic feedback from the audience who made our festival success.On the ending day, Kalindi theatre troupe from Kalkata staged a show of Ruddhosangeet at the university auditorium which hosted all the drama stage.The festival opened on October 28 with Tiner Talowar staged by the theatre department of Rajshahi University.On the third day, Rabindranath Tagore’s dance-drama Tasher Desh was staged by the drama department of Chittagang University while the historical play Awrangazeb was staged by Dhaka-based theatre troupe Prangone Mor.On the fourth day, Sham Ray was staged by the theatre and performance studies department of Kazi Nazrul Islam University while Bangali was staged by the drama and music department of Jagannath University.On the fifth day, the drama and dramatics department of Jahangirnagar University staged a dramatic version of Tarasanker Bandyopaddhyay’s novel Kabi while Sundaram theatre troupe from Kalkata staged the drama Jadu Bangsho.Natyabhoomi theatre troupe, coming from the Indian state Tripura staged Ami Madhobi on the sixth day while a Dhaka-based theatre troupe Drishya Pot staged Socretis ar Jobanbondi on the seventh day.
