DU Correspondent :
The students of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University on Tuesday blocked the capital’s Nilkhet and adjacent roads for more than three-hour alleging irregularities in the admission process this session.
The students took position on the streets around 11:30 am and continued their demonstration until 2:30 pm halting transport movement from Nilkhet to Azimpur and Mirpur Road. As a result, city residents faced numerous sufferings.
Protesters claimed that many students who appeared in the admission test of 2017-18 sessions are yet to get any subjects or desired colleges though they were in the merit list. Rather who did not take part in the intake test got subjects.
Students withdrew the demonstration around 3:00 pm after coordinator of Social Science and Arts Faculty Abu Mohammad Delowar Hossain assured them of justice by February 9.
They also threatened to wage tougher movement if the authority failed to take any step regarding this.
The seven colleges became affiliated with Dhaka University in February 2017.
The affiliated colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Women’s College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Govern- ment Women’s College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
