Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of ruling Awami League, on Thursday expelled seven leaders and activists of Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall unit of Dhaka University from the organisation as they were involved with crimes.
The organisation also served a notice on the hall unit President Abu Salman Prodhan Shaon and General Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince to explain within three days as to why they should not be expelled from the organisation.
The BCL central committee took the decision in an emergency meeting yesterday.
The expelled activists are Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall unit Vice-President Saddam Hossain, Joint-Secretary Gazi Hasib, Organising Secretary Hasu, workers Shohag, Riad Hossain, Apu and Asad.
BCL, DU unit President Mehedi Hasan told The New Nation, BCL has a good reputation in the country. No irregularity in the organisation would be tolerated, he said.
It may be mentioned that some leaders and activists belonging to the hall President Abus Salman Prodhan Shaon and General Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince were involved with clash in the wee ours on Wednesday that left at least 10 activists injured. To restore order in the organisation, the BCL took disciplinary action against seven leaders and activists of the hall.
