6th int’l confce on emergency medicine concludes

The two-day international conference on emergency medicine concluded Saturday at Shaheed Dr Milon Hall at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in city’s Shahbag area.
Bangladesh Society of Emergency Medicine (BSEM) organized the programme aimed at bringing together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences about all aspects of emergency medicine.
National Professor Dr M R Khan attended the concluding ceremony of the conference as the chief guest with BSEM President Prof Humayun Kabir Chowdhury in the chair.
Prof Khan urged the corporate business groups to come forward with the commitment to develop the emergency management of health sectors.
“Without the assistance of them (non government organization) we could not achieve the target within the stipulated time because skill man power development is not easy process as it needs vision, mission, planning strategy and funding,” he said.
Vice-Chancellor of BSMMU Dr Pran Gopal Datta as a special guest said, “Skill development on emergency medicine is a demand of the present time and my university is working to establish a world class emergency department.”
BSEM chief patron Prof Mirza Mazharul Islam, secretary general Dr Raghib Manzoor, BSEM international adviser, Prof of Medicine of Drexel University College of Medicine Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA Ziauddin Ahmed, international adviser from England Dr Mohammed Ohidul Alam also spoke among others.
The society trained a total of 70 nurses and 95 doctors on emergency medicine services Friday as a part of the programme.
