69.60pc pass HSC, equivalent exams

UNB, Dhaka: The results of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations were published on Sunday with 69.60 percent pass rate against last year’s 78.33 percent. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban at 10.00am. A total of 7,38,872 students, out of 10,61,614, came out successful in this year’s HSC and equivalent examinations. A total of 42,894 students achieved the highest grade point average (GPA)-5 in the public examination. Among the GPA-5 achievers, 23,293 are boys with 69.04 percent pass rate and 19,601 girls with 70.23 percent pass rate. The education minister will formally announce the results at a press briefing at his office at 1.00pm. A total of 8,76,476 students sat for the examinations under eight general education boards. Of them, 65.84 percent students passed the examinations under the boards. A total of 70,461 candidates out of 82,558 came out successful in the examinations under the Madrasah Education Board with 90.19 percent pass rate while a total of 98,296 students took part in the examinations under the Technical Education Board and 89,125 passed with a success rate of 85.58 percent. The results show that a total of 34,721 students scored GPA-5 under the eight educational boards, 1,435 candidates under the Madrasah Education Board and 6,430 students under the Technical Education Board. This year, a total of 10,61,614 examinees from 8,294 educational institutions under 10 educational boards across the country took part in the examinations that began on April 1 and ended on June 22. Of the total 8,294 participating collages, 1,133 showed cent percent pass rate.
