68pc students of secondary schools not receive new books, 80pc primary students get on Jan 1

In Barishal district, sixty-eight percent students of secondary schools did not receive new books, while eighty percent primary school students received those on new-year .
On Friday morning, SM Ajiar Rahman, Deputy Commissioner, inaugurated distribution of secondary books at Halima Khatun Girls Secondary School and primary books at Government Primary School of the city.
Anowar Hossain, district secondary education officer, said, the total number of students in 704 educational institutions of the district are 1, 94,534.
Their total demands for secondary level books in the district are 26 lakh 19 thousand 190, but only 9 lakh 21 thousand 643 books have reached till this report.
Barishal Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Bithika Sarkar said district secondary education office has confirmed that only 32 per cent books of secondary classes.
On other hand Abdul Latif Majumder, district primary education officer (DPEO) said, they received hundred per cent books, and eighty percent of those books are distributed on the first day and the remaining 20 percent would be distributed in the coming days.
On other hand only 32 per cent books of secondary students have been received to distribute and as a result, 68 percent students of secondary education are deprived of getting new books.
However, education officials said all books would be handed over to rest of the students as soon as they received the copies.
According to Barishal district primary education department, in 1594 primary schools of the district number of students are 2 lakh 32 thousand and they needed 12 lakhs 93 thousand books of different subjects.
All books have already been reached and cent percent distribution would be completed within Saturday January 02.
The district primary education officer added that due to corona pandemic books would be distributed in six slots from 9 am.
Anu Haldar, a first grader student of Binapani Government Primary School of the city, expressed his happiness after receiving books of his class.
Mintu Kumar Kar, Headmaster of Matrimandir Government Primary School in the city, said all of 221 students of his school received 981 books on Friday.
