Vaccination of HSC candidates started in Chittagong on November 16. Subsequently, corona vaccination for 12-18 year old students started from 9th December. At first, only metropolitan students were vaccinated. Later, vaccination of students at the upazila level also started on January 8. About 6 lakh (5 lakh 88 thousand 447) students of 12-18 years of age in Chittagong have received the first dose of vaccine since its inception till Monday.
According to the Chittagong District Education Officer’s Office, the number of these (12-18 year old) students in Chittagong district including the metropolis is 6 lakh 64 thousand 72 people. As many as 6 percent of the students of this age group in Chittagong have already come under the first dose of vaccine. Among the first dose recipients, 28,911 students took the second dose.
Chittagong Civil Surgeon Mohammad Ilias Chowdhury said that emphasis has been laid on immunization of students. Meanwhile, most of the students in the district, including Mahanagar, have received the first dose of the vaccine.
In several upazilas the first dose application is almost at the final stage.
However, it is taking some time in the metropolis.
Another center (GEC Convention Center) is being set up on Tuesday to speed up the immunization of students in the metropolis, said District Education Officer Faridul Alam Hossaini.
District Education Officer Faridul Alam Hossaini said that more than half of the total students in the city got the first dose.
The Civil Surgeon and District Education Officer of Chittagong hopes that the first dose will be completed within a week.
