At least 65 thatched houses were gutted in a fire which broke out at Jaladas Para(fishermen’s area)in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram district early Wednesday.
Eight people sustained burn injuries while trying to extinguish the blaze, said Azadul Islam, in-charge of Banshkhali Fire Service Station.
He said the fire broke out at a house around 4:10 am and engulfed the adjoining houses.
On information, three fire tenders were pressed into the service and it took them over two hours to douse the flames.
The affected house owners claimed that the losses caused by the fire is Tk 50 lakh.
A probe has been ordered to find out the cause behind the fire, said Azadul.
