Police, in special drives from Friday night to this morning, arrested 34 persons including four activists of Jamaat-e-Islam, three drug traders and recovered 350 bottles of Phensidyl syrup from 11 upazilas of the district.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
Police said, during the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested eight persons, Khansama Thana police arrested four, Kaharole Thana police two, Hakimpur Thana police arrested three drug traders with 350 bottles of Phensidyl syrup, Birampur police arrested two persons,
Ghoraghat police arrested three, Birganj Thana police arrested three, Phulbari Thana police arrested two, Bochaganj police two, Biral Thana police arrested one and Chirirbandar Thana police arrested four activists of Jamaat-e-Islam.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added. The arrested people were sent to jail.
