Police in a drives arrested 64 people including two Jamaat activist from different Upazilas of the district on Monday night.
Abdul Awal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said police detained two Jamaat activists from Satkania Upazilas of the district for his alleged involvement in sabotage acts and vandalism.
The detainees also include 47 warrantees and 17 accused in regular cases, he said adding that, one single barrel gun, one shutter gun, 47 litres of country-made liquors, one Kilogram Hemp and 229 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets were also recovered during the drives.
7 drug peddlers arrested
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP)) in several raids arrested seven drug peddlers including two female addicts with 57 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets and two kg’s ganja from different area of Biyazid thana in the city on Monday night.
The arrestees were identified as Tariqul Islam,25, Rimu Akter Tuli, 30, Beauty Begum,41, Mohammad Raju,35, Mohammad Badsha,26, Afsar uddin,36 and Anwar Hossain Liton,32.
A team of Biyazid thana police on secret information raided at different areas of the station under Baizid thana in the city at 11 pm Monday night and arrested them with 57 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets and ganja.
