Speakers at a discussion meeting on Sunday said about 63 percent of people die due to non-communicable diseases across the country every year and this rate will reach upto 70 percent by the next 10 years. They said these killing diseases include heart disease, lung disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney disease. Whereas more than 50 percent of this diseases can be prevented if people be aware and change their lifestyle from early of their life.Kidney Awareness Monitoring and Prevention Society (KAMPS), a voluntary healthcare organization arranged a Free Medical Camp on the occasion in honor of the language mayrtered, as part of its regular annual event for the 12th consecutive years.More than 4000 poor patients have been given treatment and distributed with required medicine completely free of cost on Saturday at a Free Medical and Eye Camp, held at Hatibandha, Shakhipur in Tangail.A well organised team of nearly 40 expert Physicians and Technologists, led by the renowned Kidney specialist, Chairman of KAMPS and Chief Consultant, Kidney Department, Lab Aid Specialised Hospital, Dhaka, Prof. Dr. MA Samad, treated the helpless and poor patients of Tangail area for the day long.Patients received treatment in various disciplines including Kidney, Heart, Liver, Guyeney, Gastro, Diabetes, ENT, medicine, Dental, mental health, paralysis, skin etc. while more than 100 aged poor Eye patients undergone cataract surgery in the camp.Side by side treatment the necessary lab tests of the patients like Blood Test, Urine, Crete nine, Blood Sugar, USG, ECG were done and also necessary medicines were distributed among them free of costs.As part of the day long camp, a discussion meeting styled” Change lifestyle for getting sound health and longevity” was held and also the cover of the regular annual publication of KAMPS on the occasion of Free Medical Camp and Health Education Fair named “Prayash-12” was formally unveiled.Civil Surgeon of Tangail Dr. Syed Ibne Sayed, Executive Director of the ‘Bureau Bangladesh’, Md. Jakir Hossain,.Upazila Chairman of Shakhipur Upazila, Shawkat Sikder and Mayor of Shakhipur, Abu Hanif were present as special guests. Adviser of the free medical camp and former General Manager of Bangladesh Bank, Md. Abdul Malek Mian presided over the meeting while Chairman of KAMPS also Chief Consultant Kidney Department of Lab Aid Specialised Hospital, Prof. Dr. MA Samad presented key note paper in the discussion meeting.
