62 houses to be built for insolvent FFs in Sylhet

In Sylhet, 62 residential dormitories, for the valiant freedom fighters who batted their life for the Bangladesh War of Liberation held in 1971, will be built in Sylhet, says Local Government Engineering Division (LGED), Sylhet office source.
 The source further said that 70 residences for FFs have been earmarked in Sylhet district. Out of all those 70 estimated residences or dormitories, 62 ones have so far been built in Sylhet district.
As per LGED source, as per jurisdiction of this project, 3 each residences to Sylhet Sadar and Fenchugonj UZs, one in South Surma UZ, 9 in Companigonj, 8 in Zaintiapur, 11 in Gowainghat, 4 in Kanaighat, 5 each for Zakigonj and Gulapgonj and 9 in Beanibazar residences have been approved of which all dormitories under Sylhet Sadar, Balagonj, Bishwanath, South Surma, Gowainghat and Kanaighat Upazilas’ have been completed.
Valiant Freedom Fighter Azman Ali of the village Chatibahar under Frontier Companigonj UZ of Sylhet, an FF Sector No-4 Shamshernagar during Bangladesh War of Liberation (BWL) said he had no homestead. The Government has built a dormitory for which he has been very much pleased.
Valiant Freedom Fighter Rafiqul Haque Advocate, Assistant Organising Secretary of Bangladesh FFs Central Command Council opined that, the present Government of Sheikh Hasina evaluated the contribution of Freedom Fighters, who were not so evaluated as it has been now. This is really an epoch-making decision taken up by the pro-liberation government run by the Grand Alliance.
LGED Executive Engineer Shapon Kanti Paul said that, every residence’s estimated cost will be Tk. 9,25,056. He said that these dormitories have been earmarked for landless and insolvent Freedom Fighter. These dormitories have been built one the basis of one per 60 FFs per Upazila in the district, he added.
