Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested at least 61 people and seized Yaba, Liquor, fake currency notes and Hemp, in a series of overnight drives in different areas in the city during the last 24 hours ending Wednesday.
A total of 7555 piece Yaba tablets, 17 Kilograms of Liquor, two kilograms of hemp were seized during the drive.
A team of Chawkbazar thana police recovered 34 fake notes, each Tk 1000 denomination, while the note trader was waiting for exchanging the fake notes at Golzer crossing in the city at 10.30 pm last night.
The arrestee confessed that they, a group, had been running business of fake notes in the port city for long. A total of 13 cases were filed with respective police stations in these connections.
