603 people lost lives, 2990 injured in 3,757 road accidents in 10 months

A total of 3,757 road accidents occurred this year and 603 people were killed in these accidents while 2990 people were injured.
On Thursday (September 1), the organization working on the accident, Save the Road, reported the story. This report has been prepared based on the information published and disseminated in 26 national dailies, various news organizations and electronic media as well as the information of Save the Road volunteers across the country.
According to the report signed by Shanta Farzana, Secretary General of the organization, 50 per cent of those killed in road accidents in August were children, teenagers and young people who are aged about 7 to 25 years and most of them are students. Of the rest, 20 per cent are over 60.
The remaining 30 per cent are between 25 and 60 years of age. About 60 per cent of the total road accidents in August were due to lack of bike lanes and poor condition of roads.
According to the report, 10,62 accidents occurred in August due to lack of bike lanes and speeding of motorcycles, 750 people were injured and 92 people were killed.
839 truck accidents occurred last month due to carelessness, drousy and eye fatigue, 560 people were injured and 68 people were killed in these accidents. About, 896 bus accidents occurred due to various reasons including bad condition of roads and continuous transport without rest. 918 people were injured and 255 people were killed in these accidents.
960 lorry-pickup-nasimon-karimon-battery-powered rickshaw-cycle and
CNG accidents occurred due to careless movement on Para-mahalla-highway. 762 people were injured and 188 people were killed in these accidents.
Also, 155 accidents occurred on waterways from 1st to 31st August, 377 injured, 15 killed and 34 missing in these accidents.
