CCC election: 6,000 law enforcers to provide security

More than 6000 members of law enforcing agencies will be deployed for holding the April 28 Chittagong City Corporation elections free and fair.
Abdul Jalil Mondol, Commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), said that foolproof security measures would be taken to resist any sort of violence or disorder on the day of holding the CCC elections.
?The strong security forces containing Police, BGB, RAB and Ansar numbering over 6000 will be deployed in the city,? he added. The CMP sources said they have asked the police headquarters for deploying 4,000 members of law enforcing agency in a letter issued on March 31. However they agreed to provide 6000 members in order to ensure proper security on the day.
CMP boss said more than 20 members of police and Ansar will be deployed in each polling station. Besides, a lot of mobile team will work on the day patrolling the entire City corporation area, he added. So, Abdul Jalil confirmed that there was no scope of breaking law and ordr situation on the day of election.
He said, those forces will be deployed before two days of holding elections. Mondol further said, occupation of polling stations, hijacking of ballot boxes and any other attempt to create anarchy on the Day would be dealt with severely.
The total numbers of polling stations in the Chittagong City Corporation are 719. A total of 719 Presiding officers, 4906 Assistant Presiding Officers and 9812 Polling officers totaling of 15,437 will conduct the elections on April 28. The total numbers of voters in Chittagong city is 18, 13,449 this year.
