UNB, Dhaka :
Some 600 field-level sanitary inspectors will work across the country to ensure food safety for all during the holy month of Ramzan.
“The inspectors will visit different markets, hotels, restaurants and eateries to check food adulteration and ensure safe food for all during the Ramzan,” State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malik told a press conference at Dhaka Medical College auditorium on Tuesday.
Although food monitoring programmes are usually conducted during Ramzan, he said, this one will continue throughout the year.
The junior minister warned that stern action will be taken against those to be found involved in food adulteration and contamination.
Zahid said, the country under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s leadership has already achieved food autarky and it is now moving ahead with marked progress in health sector.
He asked sanitary inspectors to properly perform their duty and take effective measures against food adulterators.
Zahid urged media to make general people aware of the adverse impacts of food adulteration through their reports or programmes, and help the government sensitise them to raise their voice against food adulterators.
