UNB, Dhaka :
Airport Armed Police (AAP) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka recovered 600 grams of gold from the airport and arrested one passenger in this connection on Friday night.
Sources at the AAP, which is responsible for entire security at the airport, said members of the airport security unit challenged Abul Hossain, a passenger of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG-085) from Singapore, while he was crossing the green channel at about 9:30 pm.
The law enforcers searched the body of Abul Hossain, son of Tara Miah
Boyati of Jajira in Shariatpur, and recovered two gold bars weighting about 600 grams, which were kept hidden inside his shoes.
The market value of the seized gold would be around Tk24 lakh.
